Call For Entries

Every summer, our shopping center hosts the Prairie Village Art Show. This year, Curious Sofa will sponsor a mini version inside the store with 10 artists whose goods compliment our style. If you feel you are a good candidate, please send pictures of your designs and a brief bio to me.

This three day event will be held
May 30, 31 and June 1, 2008
Hours are
Friday night 5-9 Saturday 10-9 Sunday 11-5

Not only will the Village be full with over 90 artists but customers come from miles around to buy and browse. Music, food and children events are part of the festivities and for those of you who have wanted to make a pilgrimage to the store, this might be the weekend to do it!

To submit:
-Please email five jpeg images of your designs to: curiousdeb@curioussofa.com.
-Please be sure all of your creations compliment the Curious Sofa style which means:
-Neutrals, aged or muted coloring.
-The use of natural elements: (Recycled materials or wood, paper, glass, fiber, metal).
-Antique items used or vintage inspired interpretation.
-All mediums welcome: Jewelry, metal, paper, fabric, clothing, glass, photography, painting, etc.
-Only 10 artists will be accepted due to the space of the store and all items must be appropriate in size.

Once accepted:
Space fee is $50 for each artist and must be paid by April 15.
A 10% commission will also be taken on every item you sell as all sales will be taken through the store. Therefore, you do not have to worry about packing materials, cash drawer, credit card machine or overnight security.

-Set up is on Friday, May 30 from 10-3 p.m.
-You must be present with your art at least 75% of the time.
-Please bring enough inventory to last for three days.
-Along with the Village Art Show advertising, Curious Sofa will email, blog and send postcards as well.

When accepted, all items for sale must be written on an inventory sheet so we may log your products into our computer, print barcode price tags and get an accurate inventory count. 90% of this list must be received by May 25 with a few additions when you arrive.

If you are coming from out of town, we will be more than happy to recommend accommodations.
