Thank God that we do have a web presence that is pulling us through this recession, but where have all the locals gone? We too painstakingly maintain a large showroom and when no one comes in it really affects our morale (not to mention our bottom-line). But more importantly we've been discussing moving to a warehouse and going online only. I think many people would indeed miss the experience of coming to our store but they just don't realize that means they have to come buy something! I will definitely join the 3/50 project and try to get the word out here in Miami.
Thanks again.Olga Granda-Scotthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17281010012611137902noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28631804.post-14725959623402365852009-06-17T20:06:12.105-06:002009-06-17T20:06:12.105-06:00everything looks fabulous. wish i was making a tr...everything looks fabulous. wish i was making a trip to kansas city again this summer.bethhttp://www.eliwill.etsy.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28631804.post-4954747163713471322009-06-14T21:33:09.511-06:002009-06-14T21:33:09.511-06:00Janet, Thank you and the girls for coming in. Coming from someone as savvy as you, they mean a lot.

To everyone wondering how to best use The 3/50 Project to help their businesses, step one is to register, then start handing out the free flyers linked on our Resources page. Even when a customer comes in to visit (without purchasing), it’s easy to say “Hey, let me give you one of these...it’s about something we’re really excited about and involved in, and is something that supports stores like ours and the community.” Every day, I get emails from store owners who tell me about the positive reactions they get from customers who simply didn’t realize what a huge role they play in keeping stores around.

But don’t stop there-—check out the Resources page of our site. Put our members badge on the home page of your store website and we’ll link your listing on the Supporters page back to you as another way of promoting your store.

Pull together with neighboring businesses, put banners in the windows, talk to your local media, Chamber of Commerce, and Main Street Association (the latter two are major supporters of the Project) about how they can help spread the word. The more voices out there, the better....

P.S. to Kansas City: You’re about to get some local media coverage for The 3/50 Project. I’m the guest on The Walt Bodine Show (KCUR 89.3 FM) next week, talking up the importance of supporting local indie business!

Here’s to big things ahead for all the little guys out there,

Cinda Baxter
Founder
The 3/50 Project
the350project.netCinda Baxter, The 3/50 Projecthttp://the350project.netnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28631804.post-16732504857177359542009-06-11T11:31:19.273-06:002009-06-11T11:31:19.273-06:00you always have such great stuff!you always have such great stuff!Anne Mariehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11570313791042086593noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28631804.post-59612027594188880702009-06-10T20:25:22.194-06:002009-06-10T20:25:22.194-06:00Shopping local is fun and it makes you feel good (...Shopping local is fun and it makes you feel good (all warm and tingly inside).
