Of course, New York

.
A friend just sent this to me and I am in awe. This makes my store look like the local 7-Eleven. Retailers, take note for next year!

The creative minds behind the windows in New York are unbelievable. It's a dying art. Truly, I used to do visual merchandising and the first job cut was always the artistic one. Enjoy every little detail...It inspires!

Don't even get me going on this subject. Chicago had such windows at ONE TIME, until Macy's bought out Marshall Field's and relegated us to the status of second city, with nothing but cardboard cutouts in the windows. If you mention Macy's to anyone from Chicago, you're going to get a strong response. HA.

I can't imagine that your windows aren't wonderful.

This was a great link, thanks for sharing it! There was a special on the NYC windows on HGTV - interesting to get a tiny glimpse of what goes into them

Don't get me started on Macy's either - ours resembles a glorified garage sale!

Hi,
I'm a Missouri gal here, found you through Karla's Cottage. I see I definitely need to take a trip to the city. That's what we call KC where I live. You are probably about 1 1/2 hrs. away (close) I have just got to come and see your beautiful store! I also want to go to that big antique mall Karla talked about.

Your place looks like absolute fun!
~Jill

p.s. My great aunt lived in Praire Village KS...she married Harry S. Truman's nephew. I guess she also was in the know of great shopping! ;o)

Their windows are definitely beautiful...but, personally, your displays are FAR more interesting and beautiful to me. I love New York, but a trip to your store sounds better! I could look at your pics all day!
Love your blog,

Debi,
The windows are beautiful and so inspiring but don't put yours down. I love your eclectic style and remember their budget is very large. It takes more talent to make something special on a limited budget. You've got my vote!

The white and silver sans traditional Christmas red is amazing. The texture really pops amidst all the chalky white. Love it.

Thanks for the great link! Was in NYC the weekend before Christmas and of course saw many of the window displays. Loved the fellow's accent and comments, a real New Yorker. I am a KC native, living in NC and wanting to reside in NYC before I die! No where else on earth like it. ABC carpet was a feast for the eye throughout the whole store! They did a display of maniquins (sp?) in African tribal costumes that was over-the-top gorgeous....
Thanks again, love your site, blessings for the New Year,
Cathy

Stunning. Thank you for sharing. I was not impressed with the HGTV special on holiday windows (although I LOVED that they asked children to draw their ideas for one window, that's fantastic). I am always googling "holiday windows in Paris" when I need inspiration. But hey, cardboard works too! Check out my ice skater window on my blog...and she moved! (When the furnace kicked on ;-)

Absolutely breathtaking and totally inspirational. Thanks so much for sharing-butdo not compare yourself to them, I am sure the money spent on those windows may be the equivalent of most of our salaries put together and then some! You do awesome RESOURCEFUL and flash-of-brilliance rare treat one of a kind work, too!xox divaqueen

Good Morning! I just found your blog after searching some others and I have to tell you that I am in love with your store, style, creativity, your artistic eye for detail and your lovely home. I would do just about anything to live nearby and be able to shop (daily) in your store or even better ~ work there! :) I have become very addicted to looking at all the beautiful blogs out there but I am so thrilled that I have found yours that really showcases my love for all the same things. Your displays are stunning! Perhaps a road trip from Nebraska is in order!
